This page will provide you will an overview of Aegis Institute’s grade 7-12 curriculum outline and comparative analysis with the State of Florida “scholar” diploma standards, in order to show you how we are not only meeting these expectations but far exceeding them.

1. Florida “Scholar” High School Diploma Standards Met

Typical Florida “Scholar” High School Diploma

24 CREDITS
1 AP/IB examination required*

HUMANITIES (8.5 credits):

  • 4 credits in English Language and Literature
  • 3.5 credits in History and Social Studies (including Financial Literacy)
  • 1 credit in Fine Arts

MATHEMATICS (4 credits):

  • 4 credits in high school level math (Algebra 1+2, Geometry, Trigonometry, single variable Calculus)

NATURAL SCIENCE (3 credits):

  • 1 credit in high school-level Biology
  • 1 credits in high school-level Chemistry
  • 1 credit in another high school-level science
  • 1 credit in an AP science, such as Chemistry or Physics (often without calculus)

FOREIGN LANGUAGE (2 credits)

PHYSICAL EDUCATION (1 credit) to include the integration of health

ELECTIVES (6 credits)

*A student must earn at least 1 credit in an AP, IB, AICE or a dual enrollment course for the “scholar” designation.

  • 6 credits in high school level math (Algebra 1+2, Geometry, Trigonometry, single variable Calculus)
  • 9 credits in college-level mathematics (Multivariate Calculus, Complex Analysis, Ordinary Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, Partial Differential Equations, Abstract Algebra, Game Theory, Number Theory, Quantum Mechanics
  • 3 credits in math electives at the college level

NATURAL SCIENCE (11 credits)

  • 4 credits in college-level Biology (3 levels of AP Biology, AP Environmental Science)
  • 4 credits in college-level Chemistry (AP Chemistry, Biochemistry, Polymer-Chemistry, Electrochemistry)
  • 3 credits in college-level Physics (AP Physics AB and BC, Engineering)

FOREIGN LANGUAGE (3 credits): currently offering Spanish

COMPUTER SCIENCE (5 credits): coding instruction in Python and C dealing also with data structures. Complete preparation for the AP Computer science exam.

TEST PREP (1 credit): requiring all students to take the SAT

Public School Requirements

Students must pass the following statewide assessments:

  • Grade 10 English Language Arts (ELA) or concordant score
  • Algebra 1 end of course (EOC) or a comparative score

Public School Requirements Met by Aegis Institute

Students will satisfy the following statewide assessments:

  • Grade 10 English Language Arts (ELA)
  • Algebra 1 end of course (EOC)

by getting the necessary concordant score on the SAT, which is typically less than a 500 in each section. We require our students to take the SAT at the end of their 8th grade year.

Students enrolled in the following courses must participate in the corresponding EOC assessment:
